Sea Bird Sailing Excursions

$20 will feed a starving animal for weeks, or spay/neuter and animal, or provide emergency medical treatment to homeless, abandoned animals in desperate need.

We at SeaBird Sailing Excursions have been helping animals since we were children.  Originally from San Diego California, we opened our homes and purse strings to rescue of animals in need through fostering and volunteer activities for Helen Woodward Animal Shelter and the Rancho Coastal Humane Society. With Vet Tech experience and a passionate heart for helping animals in need, it was a natural transition to continue our animal rescue efforts when we moved to Costa Rica In 2007.

The animal welfare situation in Playas del Coco Costa Rica in Guanacaste Province (Pacific Northwest Coast) is desperate. Over population and abandonment leave animals homeless, starving and in need of immediate medical care.

Since we moved to Costa Rica we have rescued and saved many animals who would have died, providing foster care, nutrition, facilitating spay neuter and placing helpless dogs and cats into new loving homes.

Sometimes the task seems hopeless, but through donations and our own personal finances we have had many success stories.

Please help us to continue to help desperate animals in need. For these dogs and cats living on the street, we are their only hope.

$20 will spay/neuter a dog or cat, feed a starving animal for a month, or provide desperately needed medical treatment to a sick or injured animal. 100% of  your donation will go directly to helping animals in need.

Donating is easy via the Paypal link below.

Negrita was a street dog who was emaciated, pregnant and very ill suffering from tick fever and mange. When they were building the new park in Coco Central, our town and in the the heart of our rescue efforts, Negrita was reported to be one of the "security dogs" when the park property was fenced and under construction.  After the park was completed, the construction crew left the scene and left Negrita to fend for herself.  Some friends and I tried catching her for weeks and by the time we finally did, she had a broken leg and was pregnant.  A week after we caught her she gave birth to 9 puppies. We provided foster care for Negrita and her puppies, keeping them as healthy as we could. Recently, all of which the puppies have found excellent homes and through generous donations Negrita had the amputation surgery she needed to remove her infected and non-functioning leg. She is now responding well to treatment for tick fever and mange and well on her way to a new life  This is just one of the success stories.

Please help us continue our efforts for the animals and community by donating whatever you can!  A little goes a long way here in Costa Rica!! Every penny counts and every animal deserves our compassion and help.

Please donate through the link below. We will confirm receipt of your donation and welcome you to stay in touch with us as part of our animal rescue community.

Seabird Sailing Excursions is proud to give back through much needed animal rescue.

Week of Feb 5, 2012;  This black Labrador, "Shooey" was abandoned by her owner.  She had a litter of nine puppies and Sandra from greenmysterycostarica.com took in the puppies and found homes for most of them.  She still has some up for adoption, I think 2 or 3 left.  Shooey was still on the street and went in to heat again, so I caught her, spayed her, and now she is happily living on a big farm out in Barra Honda, thanks to the help of some of neighbors, Kris and Julia, who found the new owners!

Week of Feb 5, 2012.  Gus, puppy pictured above, just found a home!  He is the last of Negrita's 9 puppies!!  He will be living with Nancy up the street, so we will get to visit him often.  :)  He is getting neutered as I write this, and will go to his new home after he recovers.

This is Bona, photo taken by adoptive parents.  Bona was one of nine puppies born to Negrita, the three legged dog above.  <3

Sir Jean Thomas, the new parent of "Rica," one of nine puppies from Negrita.  Proud caretaker of Negrita and nine puppies on the right, that's Angela Lane!  Gracias mi hermana sister.
